The Village of Tiscali
Where the landscape never descends, and one mountain is chained to the other, protected by fairytale nature and the silence of the centuries, you will discover Tiscali.
A village fortress inhabited by Shepherds-Warriors in the Nuraghic Era, which only the enemies’ dreams of conquest could pass through. C. S.
The village, is set on the top of mount Tiscali, which has origins in the very remote past and was built inside a huge karstic sinkhole following the collapse of the large hall of a cave.
The settlement is made up of hundreds of buildings, the huts are mainly circular shaped but there are also rectangular, quadrangular and elliptic examples.
They are organized into two districts leaning against the walls of the sinkhole and though they have in part collapsed, their foundations can still be seen.
The origins of this village are to this day mysterious, in fact, according to historical-archaeological research, its building technique differs from that of the other nuraghic villages, thus its erection could coincide with the Roman conquest of the island.
